About the Artist:
Shirley Metcalf has exhibited her paintings throughout Connecticut and nationally. She creates paintings and installations using both traditional and non-traditional painting materials, including fiber, cloth and thread. Shirley holds a BFA from the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York as well. A 19 year resident of Norfolk, Connecticut, Shirley paints out of her village studio on Maple Avenue. Her work has been recognized through several awards and juried show selections. Shirley is a board member of the Battell Arts Foundation, the scholarship fund of which will benefit from Chairish the Arts.
